Abstract

Comments on a report by D. Turkington, D. Kingdon and T. Turner (see record 2002-13724-012) regarding the effectiveness of brief cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in treating schizophrenia. The present authors take issue with the claim that the 'numbers needed to treat of 13 for improvement in overall symptoms was compatible with the results achieved when CBT was delivered by expert therapists (E. Kuipers et al, 1997).' (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2003 APA, all rights reserved)
