ENHANCING THE READABILITY OF THE WIGNER DISTRIBUTION USING AN ITERATIVE DETECT-AND-ELIMINATE APPROACH FOR THE INTERFERENCE

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference paper

    Abstract

A method to improve the readability of the Wigner distribution based on the suppression of the interference terms in the time-frequency plane is presented in this paper. First, cross-terms are detected via locating the negative values of the representation. The distribution within the identified areas is subsequently reduced to zero. The remaining auto-terms are synthesized into the time-domain and subtracted from the original signal. The process is repeated until all signal components are extracted. Finally, the Wigner distributions of the recovered auto-terms are superimposed to yield a high-readability time-frequency representation of the signal.
