Abstract

With the rise of the internet and increased globalization, there has been a corresponding increase in the awareness of the inequalities in health between low-income and high-income countries as well as within countries, and thus increased travel and enthusiasm by health professionals with a view to reducing the inequalities that exist. In the enthusiasm ethical principles can be forgotten, or the wider implications of well-intentioned actions and initiatives can be missed. This article will explore some of the issues surrounding the ethics of global health care and the practical implications of an ethics-based approach.
