Abstract

The present work seeks to do a critical review of the discussion on global governance and democracy. Through a qualitative approach, we seek to delimit the debate theoretically to present current challenges for global governance's democratisation. Initially, a preliminary discussion is presented contextualising the emergence of the concept of global governance in the early 1990s. Next, we discuss the democratisation of global governance, based on the discussions of established authors such as Dahl, Keohane, Macedo and Moravcsik . Finally, the problematisation of how to make global governance more legitimate opens the way to identify the main challenges to think about the democratisation of international decision-making bodies.
