Abstract

This report presents the findings from our study
into the content, purpose and effectiveness of the
handover of information about older residents
between care home staff coming off duty and those
coming on duty. The study consisted of a literature
review and qualitative research undertaken in five
care homes using an ethnographic approach in
which handovers were observed and interviews
conducted with a range of staff.
