Abstract

The formation, stability and solubilisation capacity of oil-in-water microemulsions (ME) and nano-emulsions (NE) stabilised by the non-ionic surfactant, C18:1E10 and containing either the liquid triglyceride, soybean oil (SBO), or the solid triglyceride, tripalmitin (TPN). Although there was little difference observed in the extent of the area of ME and NE existence, droplet size and stability, solubilisation of the poorly water-soluble drug was reduced in the TPN-containing ME and NE, most probably because of the "solid-like" nature of the TPN in some of the ME and all of the NE.
