Abstract
Automated measurement of blood pressure and urinalaysis is reviewed, and the strengths and weaknesses of these devices are compared with the conventional techniques. The few early reports of such management strategies are reviewed with the emphasis of the advantages od automated monitoring. The article concludes with a review of published pilot data in this field and places those findings in the context of recent recommendations for the development of obstetric care in the United Kingdom.
