Abstract
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established by the United Nations, offer a global framework to address pressing challenges, including health, equality, and environmental sustainability. This poster explores how nursing practice for older adults can align with the 17 SDGs to promote holistic care and well-being. Older adults, as a growing demographic, face multifaceted health challenges that require not only clinical care but also considerations of broader social, economic, and environmental factors. This research highlights the role of nurses in implementing SDGs in geriatric care, focusing on key areas such as reducing inequalities (SDG 10), promoting good health and well-being (SDG 3), and ensuring sustainable cities and communities for ageing populations (SDG 11). The poster visually maps each SDG to specific nursing interventions, such as advocating for equitable access to healthcare, promoting nutrition and hydration (SDG 2), and supporting sustainable living environments for ageing in place. Case studies of successful SDG integration in community and clinical settings are also presented, showcasing how nurses can act as catalysts for sustainable change in older adult care. This holistic framework highlights the synergy between geriatric nursing and the global agenda for sustainable development, emphasising the need for nurses to adopt a systems-thinking approach to address the complex needs of older adults.
