N2 - This chapter, divided into three sections, reviews the literature reported during 2010 in the field of interaction of metal complexes with nucleic acids and complex formation between metals and coordinating moieties within nucleic acids. The first two sections focus on the interaction of metal complexes and ions with DNA and RNA, respectively, and are organised by mode of interaction. In the last section examples where transition metals occupy coordination sites covalently incorporated within nucleic acids strands' are discussed.
