Abstract

Using Foucault's concept of the author as 'object of appropriation' I examine how the works of the romanised Jewish historian Flavius Josephus were read and ideologically exploited by Christians, crypto-Jews and Jews in the early modern Iberian world. My primary evidence is the material form of the printed book.
