In this chapter, we explore the complexities of outcome measurement in patients with functional movement disorder (FMD). The challenges of accurate measurement, including symptom variability and multicomorbidity, are discussed and the clinical implications of these challenges are considered. It is generally recommended that outcome measurement consider the following domains: core FMD symptom(s), other physical symptoms, psychological symptoms, life impact, health economics and adverse events. Practical considerations and specific assessment tools for each domain are discussed.
