Abstract
In recent years, the terms ‘cult’ and ‘transnational’ have become increasingly prevalent within film and media studies scholarship. However, there has been considerable debate about their precise meaning and their relative usefulness in comparison to other critical approaches. This chapter reviews eight publications that were published in 2016 in order to investigate the current state of the field and to see whether these recent texts offer up fresh approaches that can help us overcome some of these methodological challenges.
