Provision of Tactile Internet Traffic in IP Access Networks Using SDN-Enabled Multipath Routing

Abstract

This paper presents a multipath routing solution combined with Quality-of-Service (QoS) in Software Defined Network (SDN) for providing a low-delay traffic solution for Tactile Internet network domain. After SDN controller has calculated the k-best end-to-end routing paths based on the available bandwidth and number of the hops in the path, the flows with different priority are assigned to different paths according to the path cost. The tactile internet traffic is applied in
the paper and tested in network scenarios alongside with video stream and best effort traffic for varying traffic load conditions. The results indicate that the end-to-end QoS multipath routing solution can augment the network throughput while meeting the low latency requirements of tactile networks.
