Abstract
Psoriasis is a common inflammatory disease affecting 2% of the population. People who have severe psoriasis (requiring a systemic therapy) have a marked increase in cardiovascular disease. This could be due to an increased prevalence of traditional cardiovascular risk factors in people with psoriasis, the effect of chronic inflammation or a combination of both factors. Patients with severe disease should be risk assessed for cardiovascular disease and co-morbidities actively managed.
