Abstract
This text introduces the Special Issues on Researching Sexual Violence in Conflict. The collection of papers debates how methodological choices affect what we can know about wartime sexual violence, and how this knowledge might influence policy making. These questions are examined from different disciplinary perspectives and cases by reflecting on methodology in terms of epistemology, ontology and axiology. Considering not only the surge in global policy initiatives and media attention on sexual violence in conflict, but likewise, the continued interests from researchers globally, it is essential to revisit debates around methodologies and the effects this has on those who are the subject of the research and interventions.
