Abstract
New Zealand recently overhauled its system for intellectual property (IP) protection of new varieties of plants. Several requirements now incorporated into the Plant Variety Rights Act 2022 (NZ) are designed to protect Māori rights and interests. These may be relevant to Australian plant breeders and IP practitioners.
