Abstract

I argue that the presentation of the seven main characters in the Euthydemus has a philosophical purpose, to allow us to model different understandings of the change in the individual. Each understanding underlies many ways to consider how it is possible to think of learning - particularly learning philosophy. These understandings are further as I show, put under a system of values; Socratic interpretation based on a "protreptic of wisdom" is explained as a transformation agent, which can be properly described as normative process
