Space-time and space-frequency diversity schemes for data rate enhancement in a Bluetooth system

Abstract

In this paper, space-time (ST) and space-frequency (SF) diversity schemes are used to improve the performance of a Bluetooth system under Rayleigh and Rician Fading Channels. We assume that the transmitter is equipped with two transmit antennas and the receiver with m (m = 1, 2) receive antennas. The diversity schemes improve the bit error rate (BER) performance significantly without much increase in implementation complexity. A comparison in BER performance is also made between transmit and receive diversity schemes.
