Abstract
We aim for a new global consideration of the Roman de la Rose by Jean Renart from the point of view of the plot construction. Renart’s peculiar rendering of space and time, as his way of managing the central theme of the novel (the gageure) and his choices in structuring the sequences, will show as fundamental devices of his paradoxical form of narration, connoted by a vanishing fabula but a developed plot in which daily gestures and irrelevant actions play a central role.
