Abstract

The article explores the thematics and lexis of complexity in Gilles Deleuze's Proust and Signs through a focus on the motif of the fold (le pli), which generates the motifs of explication, implication and complication; through these motifs Deleuze underscores the concepts of multiplicity and difference which he sees as inherent to the 'image of thought' produced by Proust's novel In Search of Lost Time.
