Abstract
An analysis of the different marketing campaigns for three French film versions of D.H. Lawerence's Lady Chatterley's Lover. In varying ways and to different degrees the films' distributors played upon the novel's controversial reputation and a well established association between French cinema and the risqué in the minds of cinemagoers to sell these French versions of an English text back to British audiences.
