Abstract
The website documents advanced 3D visualisation technologies to study the practice of ancient masked theatre. The project has used 3D scans of Greek and Roman mask miniatures relating both to comedy and tragedy, and reproduced them at life-size by rapid prototyping. Motion capture and chromakey video technologies were also used to record experimentation with these masks by practitioners of Asiatic and European traditions. The results of which were then situated in 3D models of ancient theatre spaces. The website documents with illustrations the pipeline process and research output as well as the creation of a digitised mask archive. The Masks Project was funded by the AHRC.
