Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to analyze the relationship between the foreign expansion of Hungarian companies and the Hungarian military presence abroad. I study when, where and with how many troops the Hungarian Army have served in peacekeeping missions in the past 15 years and also where and how intensively the Hungarian FDI (Foreign Direct Investments) have been focused since the system change. Thereafter I rate the two variables “Hungarian military presence abroad” and “Hungarian Foreign Direct Investments” by cutting both of them into 4 equal parts with quartiles. The military presence abroad (1985-2000) and the Foreign Direct Investments (1990–2000) of Sweden and Finland, both traditionally have been taking significant role in the peacekeeping processes, are also studied to get a more general overview on the issue.
