This essay offers an evaluation of the contribution of Jorge Eielson to cosmopolitan modernism. It argues that Eielson gives form to the universalization of art in Peru by articulating national aesthetic discourses within the core of postwar European aesthetic discourses. This contribution resembles that carried out by 1930s modernism since consists of the construction, from the periphery, an 'ultramodernist' product that, due to its 'universality', can be applied in Europe or in any other part of the world.
