Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter compares Shakespeare's depiction of constables with William Lambarde's description of the legal duties of constables and the records of the Stratford-upon-Avon council for the period when Shakespeare's father was a constable, and finds that Shakespeare's constables have been under-rated.
