Research interests

My research reflects a multidisciplinary investigation of cognitive, brain and developmental processes, and their etiology, in ADHD and other neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders. Examples of recent and current projects include: a follow-up sibling study of persistence and remittance of ADHD in adolescence and adulthood (awarded the Kramer-Pollnow Prize in 2016 for this research); a sibling study of preterm birth as a risk factor for ADHD; a comparative study on adults that aims to identify cognitive-EEG biomarkers for ADHD and bipolar disorder; a study on the effects of acute exercise on cognitive and brain function; and a large-scale genetic study of whether polygenic risk for ADHD predicts frequently co-occurring traits and disorders in the general population. Ongoing international collaborative projects include studies focusing on the co-occurrence of ADHD with other disorders such as autism, depression and obesity.
