Research interests

Research interests for Kate Rimes include:

  • Transdiagnostic processes in psychological disorders (e.g. self-criticism, self-esteem, perfectionism, shame, self-compassion, mindfulness, emotion processing, emotional suppression)
  • Psychological effects of stigma and the development of new interventions for coping with stigma.
  • Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) mental health - see website below
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome (Book: Overcoming chronic fatigue in young people: A cognitive behavioural self-help guide; Rimes & Chalder, 2015; Routledge) and Medically Unexplained Symptoms. This book was Highly Commended at the BMA Book Awards 2016
